NHL Announces Remaining Playoff Format
Final Four Teams to be Determined Based on Regular Season Performance
The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today the format for determining the final four teams that will compete in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The remaining four playoff spots will be filled by the two teams with the highest point totals in each conference who do not win their respective division. These teams will be seeded based on their regular season records.
The NHL also announced that the playoffs will begin on May 2, 2024. The first round will be a best-of-seven series, with the second round and conference finals being best-of-seven series as well. The Stanley Cup Final will be a best-of-seven series that will begin on June 4, 2024.
The full schedule for the playoffs will be announced at a later date.
