Celtics Deal Williams to Blazers for Holiday

Holiday Heading to Boston to Team with Tatum

Williams Included in Three-Team Trade

The Boston Celtics have acquired All-Star guard Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade that sends Robert Williams III and the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Blazers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Holiday, a four-time All-Star, is expected to team up with Jayson Tatum in Boston for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The Celtics surprised the NBA world ahead of training camp for the second straight season with the move, which comes after they traded for Malcolm Brogdon last summer.

Williams, a 24-year-old center, has been a key piece of the Celtics' defense in recent seasons. He averaged 7.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game last season.

The trade is a significant move for both teams. The Celtics add a proven star to their lineup, while the Blazers get a young, talented center and a future first-round pick.
